What’s changing?
Meta is moving to a new primary performance metric called "Views" and will be deprecating the "Impressions" metric. A "View" is defined as the total number of times your content was played.
Why is this change happening?
According to Meta, this change is intended to:
- Simplify Metrics: Provide a clearer and more consistent way to measure video and static image post performance across their platforms.
- Better Reflect Intent: The "Views" metric is a stronger indicator that a user intentionally watched your content.
For more details, you can refer to Meta's official announcement here.
How will this affect our Viral Nation dashboard?
- Removal of "Impressions": The "Impressions" metric will be removed from organic campaign performance reports and data visualizations within the dashboard.
- Introduction of "Views": We will be adding the new "Views" metric to the dashboard to align with Meta's update.
- Historical Data: At this time, it is unclear how historical "Impressions" data will be handled. We will provide an update as soon as we have more information from Meta.
What you need to do:
- Update Your Reports: Please transition any personal or team reports from the "Impressions" metric to the "Views" metric.
- Inform Your Stakeholders: Make sure that anyone who relies on your dashboard reports is aware of this upcoming change.
